About the UDS Discussion Forum
This interactive site has been developed in response to requests and comments from submitters who wanted to be involved in the on-going development of the UDS.
This is your chance to share your ideas and debate the issues with other members of the UDS online community.
Here's how it works. There are three discussion streams: one general discussion forum and two set topics - public transport and water. Public transport was chosen because the Christchurch Public Passenger Transport Strategy is being revised between March and August 2006. The set topics have a 150 word opening comment posted by the online moderator to start you thinking – how you respond is up to you. In the general discussion stream you decide what you want to discuss.
Online forum members submit their comments, which will be posted by the moderator within 24 hours. Anyone can view comments and discussion, but to post comments you must be a registered member of the UDS online community.
Here's how to join. Click on the "Join" link to become a member and thereafter when you visit the site click on "Sign in" and you'll be able to post further comments. You don't have to join if you just want to read what other people are saying. See our Terms of Use for further explanations.
Here's what you get. By participating in the UDS online forum you get a real opportunity to influence the final Strategy. There are still many decisions to be made. While the submitters to the Options consultation overwhelmingly chose an Option A/B future, it's still not clear what that more concentrated form of urban development might look and feel like. People also want to retain the character of their communities and protect water. It may be a difficult juggling act.
It's time to decide our future. Join us online and together we can make a Greater Christchurch.
